VCU Hacking Expose's 176,000 Individuals
The
forensic investigation in this case uncovered that software was added to a server.
This software added accounts allowing access to student records. With The
Automated Office systems in place, the account adds would have been reported and
we would be able to take immediate corrective action to stop the breach.

Step 1. The Assessment The most important part of our process is the assessment. Even if you are happy with your current vendor, it is always a good idea to have a different set of eyes on your computers to give you perspective, kind of like a second opinion. Our assessment is FREE, but don’t be fooled by the price. We sometimes look at something free as not valuable, but I assure you this is. During our assessment, we will not add any software to your computers we simply gather facts. We will need your assistance to view certain settings and to answer a few simple questions. Our findings are confidential. We will provide you with a full Legal “Non-Disclosure Agreement” signed stating that anything we find stays between you and us. |
|
Step 2. Setup Monitoring Using our proprietary system we install our own system on your network to monitor your Server. This system will report back to us and you as well if you choose to. All of the things to keep your business running and compliant will be monitored. |

Step 3. Peace of Mind Scenario 1. (Without DentisCare) It’s 8 am Monday morning. You arrive to the office to find your server is down. You of course try to reboot it. When that does not work you call your computer repair vendor. They of course tell you to reboot it. You tell them you tried that and they tell you that they will have someone out later today. Their tech arrives later that day and finds that you need a power supply. He tells you he needs to order it and will return tomorrow to repair the server. Meanwhile you have a waiting room full of patience and no way to record measurements on the computer or take x-rays. Scenario 2. (With DentisCare) It’s 4 am Sunday, the day before. Our system reads the log files and notifies us that your server un-expectedly rebooted during the night. We review our assessment and find that your server is over 3 years old and pull the needed power supply from the shelf. We drive to your office and replace the defective power supply and then our systems once again monitor the server closely to make sure the “un-expected” reboot does not occur again. |
